The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
A caller supplicated about a punishment to fall on 1 The unbelievers-- there is none to avert it-- 2 [It is] from Allah, owner of the ways of ascent. 3 To Him the angels and the Spirit mount up, in a day whereof the measure is fifty thousand years. 4 Therefore be patient, with a beautiful patience; 5 They see the (Day) indeed as a far-off (event): 6 but We see it near at hand. 7 On that Day the heaven shall become like molten copper, 8 And the hills will be light as wool. 9 And friend shall not ask of friend 10 Though they will be given sight of them. The guilty man will long to be able to ransom himself from the punishment of that day at the price of his children 11 his companion wife, his brother, 12 And the family in which he was. 13 And whoever is on earth entirely [so] then it could save him. 14 But no! There is a raging blaze 15 Eager to roast; 16 It calls out to him who reverted and turned away. 17 and amassed wealth and covetously hoarded it. 18 ۞ Verily man is formed impatient. 19 bewailing when evil befalls him, 20 And, when good befalleth him, grudging; 21 Except the observers of prayer - 22 who are constant in prayer; 23 And those in whose riches is a known right. 24 For the beggar and the destitute. 25 and who accept as true the [coming of the] Day of Judgment; 26 and go in fear of the punishment of their Lord, 27 the punishment of their Lord is not something for them to feel secure of, 28 And those who guard their private parts 29 Are free of blame, 30 But those who seek more than this will be transgressors; 31 And those who are to their trusts and promises attentive 32 And those who stand firm in their testimonies; 33 And those who are attentive at their worship. 34 They will be honoured in the Gardens of Bliss. 35
