What aileth those who disbelieve, that they keep staring toward thee (O Muhammad), open-eyed, 36 [To sit] on [your] right and [your] left in separate groups? 37 Does every man among them aspire to be admitted into the Garden of serenity? 38 Not so; for We have created them of what they know. 39 So I swear by the Lord of every East and every West, that We are indeed Able. 40 to substitute a better than they; We shall not be outstripped. 41 So leave them to plunge in vain talk and play about, until they meet their Day which they are promised. 42 The Day whereon they will issue from their sepulchres in sudden haste as if they were rushing to a goal-post (fixed for them),- 43 Their eyes cast down; disgrace shall overtake them; that is the day which they were threatened with. 44
