Noah (Nooh)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
We sent Noah to his people telling him, "Warn your people before a painful torment approaches them". 1 He said: O my people! Surely I am a plain warner to you: 2 [Saying], 'Worship Allah, fear Him and obey me. 3 "He (Allah) will forgive you of your sins and respite you to an appointed term. Verily, the term of Allah when it comes, cannot be delayed, if you but knew." 4 He said: O my Lord! surely I have called my people by night and by day! 5 but it has had no effect on them except to make them run away. 6 And whenever I called them, that Thou mightest forgive them, they put their fingers in their ears, and wrapped them in their garments, and persisted, and waxed very proud. 7 "I preached to them aloud, in public. 8 Then verily I spake unto them openly and secretly. I also addressed them. 9 and I said, "Ask you forgiveness of your Lord; surely He is ever All-forgiving, 10 He will send [rain from] the sky upon you in [continuing] showers 11 ‘And will aid you with wealth and sons, and will create gardens for you and cause rivers to flow for you.’ 12 What aileth you that ye hope not toward Allah for dignity 13 When He created you by (divers) stages? 14 Do you not see how God has fashioned seven skies one above the other, 15 And has made the moon a light therein, and made the sun a lamp? 16 "'And God has caused you to grow out of the earth in [gradual] growth; and thereafter He will return you to it [in death]: 17 "'And in the End He will return you into the (earth), and raise you forth (again at the Resurrection)? 18 And Allah has made for you the earth a wide expanse, 19 ‘So that you may tread the wide roads in it.’” 20
