Noah (Nooh)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
We sent Noah to his nation, saying: 'Give warning to your nation before a painful punishment overtakes them' 1 He said: "O my People! I am to you a Warner, clear and open: 2 (Bidding you): Serve Allah and keep your duty unto Him and obey me, 3 "He (Allah) will forgive you of your sins and respite you to an appointed term. Verily, the term of Allah when it comes, cannot be delayed, if you but knew." 4 He said: "O my Lord! I have called to my People night and day: 5 But my invitation increased them not except in flight. 6 "And every time I have called to them, that Thou mightest forgive them, they have (only) thrust their fingers into their ears, covered themselves up with their garments, grown obstinate, and given themselves up to arrogance. 7 “I then called them openly.” 8 And lo! I have made public proclamation unto them, and I have appealed to them in private. 9 Then I said, Ask forgiveness of your Lord, surely He is the most Forgiving: 10 He will send you abundant rain from the sky, 11 and will provide you with wealth and children, and will bestow upon you gardens and rivers. 12 What has come upon you that you do not fear the majesty of God, 13 While He has created you in stages? 14 ‘Do you not see how Allah has created the seven heavens atop each other?’ 15 And hath made the moon a light therein, and made the sun a lamp? 16 And Allah has caused you to grow out of the earth so wondrously, 17 how He will then return you to it and bring you forth again, 18 how God has spread the earth out for you 19 So that you may walk upon its spacious paths.' 20
