Jinns (Al-Jinn)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ Say: It has been revealed to me that a company of Jinns listened (to the Qur'an). They said, 'We have really heard a wonderful Recital! 1 which guides people to the right path and we believe in it. We shall never consider anyone equal to our Lord; 2 'And Exalted is the Majesty of our Lord: He has taken neither a wife nor a son. 3 The fool among us spoke against God outrage, 4 And lo! we had supposed that humankind and jinn would not speak a lie concerning Allah - 5 And that persons from among men used to seek refuge with persons from among jinn, so they increased them in wrongdoing: 6 And indeed they imagined, even as ye imagined, that Allah will not raise any one. 7 We sought to reach heaven, but found it filled with strong guards and flames -- 8 and that “we would take up stations in the heaven to try to hear but anyone who now attempts to listen finds a shooting meteor in wait for him”; 9 And we do not know [therefore] whether evil is intended for those on earth or whether their Lord intends for them a right course. 10 Some of us are righteous, while others are not; we follow divergent paths. 11 We realised that we could not weaken the power of God on earth, nor outpace Him by running away. 12 Now that we have listened to the guidance, we believe in it. Whoever believes in his Lord does not need to fear loss or oppression. 13 "'Yet [it is true] that among us are such as have surrendered themselves to God - just as there are among us such as have abandoned themselves to wrongdoing. Now as for those who surrender themselves to Him - it is they that have attained to consciousness of what is right; 14 And as for the deviators, for Hell they shall be fuel. 15 If they had followed the right path, We would have provided them with abundant rain -- 16 That We may test them thereby, and whoso turneth away from the remembrance of his Lord; He will thrust him into ever-growing torment. 17 All places of worship are for God; so do not invoke any one with God. 18 When the devotee of God stood up to invoke Him (the jinns) crowded upon him (to listen). 19
