Jinns (Al-Jinn)
28 verses, revealed in Mecca after A 'araaf (Al-A 'araaf) before Y S (Yaa Seen)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ SAY: "I HAVE been informed that a number of jinns had listened; then said: 'We have heard the wondrous Qur'an, 1 ‘That guides to the path of goodness, we have therefore accepted faith in it; and we shall never ascribe anyone as a partner to our Lord.’ 2 for [we know] that sublimely exalted is our Sustainer's majesty: no consort has He ever taken unto Himself, nor a son! 3 And [now we know] that the foolish among us have been saying outrageous things about God. 4 'And verily, we thought that men and jinns would not utter a lie against Allah. 5 And indeed (O Muhammad) individuals of humankind used to invoke the protection of individuals of the jinn, so that they increased them in revolt against Allah); 6 And they had thought, as you thought, that Allah would never send anyone [as a messenger]. 7 'And we have sought to reach the heaven; but found it filled with stern guards and flaming fires. 8 And we used to sit therein in positions for hearing, but whoever listens now will find a burning flame lying in wait for him. 9 We do not know whether by this arrangement God intends benefit and guidance for the people of the earth or only evil. 10 And among us are the righteous, and among us are [others] not so; we were [of] divided ways. 11 We realised that we could not weaken the power of God on earth, nor outpace Him by running away. 12 Now that we have listened to the guidance, we believe in it. Whoever believes in his Lord does not need to fear loss or oppression. 13 and that “among us some are Muslims (Those who have submitted to Allah), and some of us are deviant. So those who became Muslims found the Right Course; 14 but those who deviated from the Truth, will be the fuel for Hell.” 15 If they (non-Muslims) had believed in Allah, and went on the Right Way (i.e. Islam) We should surely have bestowed on them water (rain) in abundance. 16 so as to test them by this means: for he who shall turn away from the remembrance of his Sustainer, him will He cause to undergo suffering most grievous. 17 and that “mosques belong to Allah, so do not invoke anyone with Him”; 18 And that when the servant of Allah stood up calling upon Him, they wellnigh crowded him (to death). 19
