Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
O you who are wrapped up in your mantle, 1 worship (God) for a few hours at night. 2 half the night, or a little less 3 or add to it a little; and recite the Qur'an slowly and distinctly. 4 We shall soon entrust to you a message heavy (with solemnity). 5 Surely, getting up at night [for worship] is the most potent means of subduing the self and most suitable for the word [of prayer]. 6 You have by day prolonged occupations [with Dawah work]. 7 So remember the name of your Lord and devote yourself to Him with exclusive devotion. 8 Lord of the east and the west! No God is there but He! Wherefore take Him for thy trustee. 9 and endure with patience whatever people may say [against thee,] and avoid them with a comely avoidance. 10 And let Me alone with the beliers, owners of ease: and respite thou them a little. 11 We have in store for them heavy fetters and a blazing Fire, 12 And a Food that chokes, and a Penalty Grievous. 13 On the day the earth and mountains will rock violently, and the mountains turn to a heap of poured-out sand. 14 Verily, We have sent to you (O men) a Messenger (Muhammad SAW) to be a witness over you, as We did send a Messenger [Musa (Moses)] to Fir'aun (Pharaoh). 15 Then Fir'awn disobeyed the apostle, wherefore We laid hold of him with a painful hold. 16 If you, disbelieve, how will you be able to protect yourselves from the hardships of the day which would even turn children grey-headed? 17 On that day, the heavens will be rent asunder. This is the decree of God which has already been ordained. 18 Verily, this is an admonition, therefore whosoever will, let him take a Path to His Lord! 19
