Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
O you wrapped in garments (i.e. Prophet Muhammad SAW)! 1 Keep watch all the night except some, 2 of one-half thereof - or make it a little less than that, 3 or a little more; and with recitation, recite the Koran. 4 For we shall charge thee with a word of weight. 5 Indeed, the first part of night is heavier in tread, and more upright in speech. 6 True, there is for thee by day prolonged occupation with ordinary duties: 7 And remember the Name of your Lord and devote yourself to Him with a complete devotion. 8 (He is) Lord of the East and the West: there is no god but He: take Him therefore for (thy) Disposer of Affairs. 9 And bear with patience what they utter, and part from them with a fair leave-taking. 10 Leave Me to those who cry lies, those prosperous ones, and respite them a little, 11 We have prepared for them fetters, flaming fire, 12 And a food that chokes, and a painful torment. 13 On a Day whereon the earth and the mountains shall quake, and the mountains shall become a sand-heap poured forth. 14 Indeed, We have sent to you a Messenger as a witness over you, just as We sent a Messenger to Pharaoh. 15 However, the Pharaoh disobeyed the Messenger and We seized him with a severe retribution. 16 How, then, if you refuse to acknowledge the truth, will you protect yourselves on that Day which shall turn the hair of children grey, 17 Whereon the sky will be cleft asunder? His Promise needs must be accomplished. 18 This is indeed a Reminder. Let whosoever will take the Path to his Lord. 19
