Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
O thou folded in garments! 1 Keep watch all the night except some, 2 A half of it or a little less 3 or a little more; and with recitation, recite the Koran. 4 Indeed, We will cast upon you a heavy word. 5 surely the first part of the night is heavier in tread, more upright in speech, 6 Verily, there is for you by day prolonged occupation with ordinary duties, 7 So remember the name of thy Lord and devote thyself with a complete devotion - 8 Lord of the east and the west! No God is there but He! Wherefore take Him for thy trustee. 9 Bear patiently with what they say, and ignore them politely. 10 And leave Me alone [to deal] with those who give the lie to the truth - those who enjoy the blessings of life [without any thought of God] - and bear thou with them for a little while: 11 Verily with Us are heavy fetters and Scorch. 12 And food that will stick in the throat, and painful torment 13 (They will come across all this) on the Day when the earth and the mountains shall tremble violently and the mountains shall crumble into heaps of scattered sand. 14 We have sent a messenger who is a witness over you, just as We sent a messenger to Pharoah before you. 15 But Fir'aun (Pharaoh) disobeyed the Messenger [Musa (Moses)], so We seized him with a severe punishment. 16 So how will you save yourselves, if you disbelieve, on a day that will turn children old? 17 The heavens itself will be rent asunder (on that day). His promise is bound to be fulfilled. 18 Verily this is a reminder. So let him who desires take the way to his Lord. 19
