20 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Pen (Al-Qalam) before The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
O YOU ENWRAPPED in the cloak (of Prophethood), 1 Stand (to pray) all night, except a little. 2 A half thereof, or abate a little thereof, 3 or a little more, but recite the Quran slowly and distinctly. 4 Surely We will make to light upon you a weighty Word. 5 Surely in the watches of the night the soul is most receptive and words more telling. 6 Surely you have in the day time a long occupation. 7 And remember the name of your Lord and devote yourself to Him with [complete] devotion. 8 Lord of the east and the west! No God is there but He! Wherefore take Him for thy trustee. 9 And have patience with what they say, and leave them with noble (dignity). 10 Leave it to Me to deal with the affluent ones who give the lie (to the Truth), and bear with them for a while. 11 Lo! with Us are heavy fetters and a raging fire, 12 and a food that chokes, and a grievous chastisement. 13 on the Day the earth and mountains shall shake and the mountains crumble into shifting sand dunes. 14 Surely We have sent to you an Apostle, a witness against you, as We sent an apostle to Firon. 15 Pharaoh disobeyed Our Messenger, so We seized him remorselessly. 16 If you persist in disbelieving, how will you guard yourself against the (woe of the) Day that will turn children grey-haired, 17 On that day, the heavens will be rent asunder. This is the decree of God which has already been ordained. 18 Verily this is a reminder. So let him who desires take the way to his Lord. 19

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
