Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
O thou enwrapped in thy robes, 1 stand up to pray for much of the night. 2 Half of it, or lessen it a little, 3 or add to it [at will]; and [during that time] recite the Qur'an calmly and distinctly, with thy mind attuned to its meaning. 4 We shall soon entrust to you a message heavy (with solemnity). 5 Indeed, the first part of night is heavier in tread, and more upright in speech. 6 whereas by day a long chain of doings is thy portion. 7 So remember the name of thy Lord and devote thyself with a complete devotion - 8 (He is) Lord of the East and the West: there is no god but He: take Him therefore for (thy) Disposer of Affairs. 9 Bear with patience what they say, and gracefully come away from them. 10 And leave Me Alone to deal with the beliers (those who deny My Verses, etc.), and those who are in possession of good things of life. And give them respite for a little while. 11 for, behold, heavy fetters [await them] with Us, and a blazing fire, 12 choking food and a painful punishment. 13 upon the day when the earth and the mountains shall quake and the mountains become a slipping heap of sand. 14 Surely We have sent to you an Apostle, a witness against you, as We sent an apostle to Firon. 15 But Firon disobeyed the apostle, so We laid on him a violent hold. 16 Then how, if ye disbelieve, will ye protect yourselves upon the day which will turn children grey, 17 The heavens itself will be rent asunder (on that day). His promise is bound to be fulfilled. 18 This is indeed a Reminder. Let whosoever will take the Path to his Lord. 19
