Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
O YOU ENWRAPPED in the cloak (of Prophethood), 1 Keep vigil the night long, save a little - 2 Half of it, or a little less than that, 3 Or add to it, and recite the Quran as it ought to be recited. 4 Indeed, We will cast upon you a heavy word. 5 Verily, the rising by night (for Tahajjud prayer) is very hard and most potent and good for governing (the soul), and most suitable for (understanding) the Word (of Allah). 6 You have by day prolonged occupations [with Dawah work]. 7 So remember the name of thy Lord and devote thyself with a complete devotion - 8 [He is] the Lord of the East and the West; there is no deity except Him, so take Him as Disposer of [your] affairs. 9 And patiently endure upon what the disbelievers say, and leave them for good. 10 Leave it to Me to deal with the affluent ones who give the lie (to the Truth), and bear with them for a while. 11 Indeed We have heavy fetters and a blazing fire. 12 food which chokes (them), and a painful torment. 13 On the Day the earth and the mountains will convulse and the mountains will become a heap of sand pouring down. 14 Indeed, We have sent to you a Messenger as a witness upon you just as We sent to Pharaoh a messenger. 15 In response Firaun disobeyed the Noble Messenger, so We seized him with a severe seizure. 16 Then how can you fear, if you disbelieve, a Day that will make the children white- haired? 17 The very heaven being then rent asunder. His promise is to be fulfilled. 18 This is indeed an advice; so whoever wishes may take the path towards his Lord. 19
