In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
You, who have wrapped yourself up with a mantle, 1 Arise [to pray] the night, except for a little - 2 For half the night, or reduce some from it. 3 Or add to it, and recite the Qur'an with measured recitation. 4 Surely We will make to light upon you a weighty Word. 5 Surely, getting up at night [for worship] is the most potent means of subduing the self and most suitable for the word [of prayer]. 6 You have by day prolonged occupations. 7 And remember thou the name of thy Lord, and devote thyself to Him with an exclusive devotion. 8 (He Alone is) the Lord of the east and the west, La ilaha illa Huwa (none has the right to be worshipped but He). So take Him Alone as Wakil (Disposer of your affairs). 9 And be patient over what they say and avoid them with gracious avoidance. 10 Leave it to Me to deal with the deniers, who live a life of comfort, and bear with them a little longer. 11 Verily, with Us are fetters (to bind them), and a raging Fire. 12 and food that chokes, and grievous suffering 13 On the Day when the earth with all its mountains quake and the mountains become heaps of shifting sand. 14 We have sent you a Messenger, who will witness your deeds, just as We sent a Messenger to the Pharaoh. 15 But Firon disobeyed the apostle, so We laid on him a violent hold. 16 If you persist in denying the truth how will you escape the Day that will turn the children's hair grey. 17 The Day when the heavens will be rent asunder and God's promise shall be fulfilled. 18 Verily, this is an admonition, therefore whosoever will, let him take a Path to His Lord! 19
