The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
O thou shrouded in thy mantle, 1 Arise and warn! 2 And proclaim the Purity of your Lord. 3 and purify your clothing, 4 And all abomination shun! 5 Give not, thinking to gain greater 6 And persevere in the way of your Lord. 7 When the trumpet is sounded,. 8 That Day will be a difficult day 9 Dolorous for the unbelievers. 10 Leave Me alone with he whom I created 11 And then bestowed upon him ample means, 12 And gave him sons present before him. 13 And made things easy for them. 14 After all that he desires that I should give more; 15 By no means! He has been stubbornly hostile to Our revelation: 16 On him I shall impose a fearful doom. 17 He planned and plotted. 18 But may he be cursed how he plotted; 19 And once more let him be cursed, how he plotted! 20 Then he looked, 21 Then he frowned and he looked in a bad tempered way; 22 Then turned he away in pride 23 And said: "This is nothing but the magic of old, 24 Naught is this but the word of Man. 25 I will surely roast him in the Scorching. 26 And what can make you know what is Saqar? 27 It leaves naught nor does it spare aught. 28 it scorches (even) the skin. 29 Over it are appointed nineteen. 30 We have appointed only angels to be masters of the Fire, and their number We have appointed only as a trial for the unbelievers, that those who were given the Book may have certainty, and that those who believe may increase in belief, and that those who were given the Book and those who believe may not be in-doubt, and that those in whose hearts there is sickness, and the unbelievers, may say, 'What did God intend by this as a similitude?' So God leads astray whomsoever He will, and He guides whomsoever He will; and none knows the hosts of thy Lord but He. And it is naught but a Reminder to mortals. 31
