The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
O you (Prophet Muhamad), the cloaked, 1 Arise and warn 2 And thine Lord magnify! 3 Purify your inner self, 4 and flee from the statues! 5 And bestow not favour that thou mayest receive more. 6 and be patient unto thy Lord. 7 Then, when the Trumpet is sounded (i.e. its second blowing); 8 Surely that day will be a day of anguish, 9 Not easy upon the disbelievers. 10 Leave him to Me, the one whom I created single. 11 And gave him abundant wealth 12 And children to be by his side! 13 and for whom I have smoothed the way (to power and riches), 14 After all that he desires that I should give more; 15 Nay! He is forward unto Our signs; 16 We shall make him suffer the torment of hell without relief. 17 For he had thought and calculated. 18 And woe to him! How he plotted!- 19 And once more let him be cursed, how he plotted! 20 Then he beheld, 21 frowned and scowled; 22 Then he turned away, and was haughty. 23 Then he said: "This is nothing but magic from that of old; 24 This is nothing but the word of a mortal!" 25 Anon shall I roast him into the Scorching Fire. 26 Would that you really knew what hell is! 27 It lets nothing remain and leaves nothing [unburned], 28 Blackening the skins. 29 there are nineteen [angels] in charge of it -- 30 We have not appointed the guards of hell, except angels; and did not keep this number except to test the disbelievers – in order that the People given the Book(s) may be convinced, and to increase the faith of the believers – and so that the People given the Book(s) and the Muslims may not have any doubt – and so that those in whose hearts is a disease and the disbelievers, may say, “What does Allah mean by this amazing example?” This is how Allah sends astray whomever He wills, and guides whomever He wills; and no one knows the armies of Allah except Him; and this is not but an advice to man. 31
