The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
O thou enveloped! 1 Arise and warn, 2 And proclaim the Purity of your Lord. 3 thy robes purify 4 And all abomination shun! 5 Do not bestow favours in expectation of return, 6 And persevere in the way of your Lord. 7 And when the trumpet is blown, 8 that will surely be a hard day, 9 For the unbelievers, anything but easy. 10 Leave Me with the one I created alone 11 and whom I have granted abundant wealth 12 and children living in his presence, 13 And for whom I smoothed everything. 14 Yet is he greedy-that I should add (yet more);- 15 By no means! He has been stubbornly hostile to Our revelation: 16 Soon I shall mount him on Saood, the hill of fire. 17 For he had thought and calculated. 18 (Self-)destroyed is he, how he planned! 19 And again perish he! How maliciously he devised! 20 Then he looked round; 21 then frowned and scowled; 22 then turned back, and swelling-up with pride, 23 And said: "This is nothing but the magic of old, 24 This is naught else than speech of mortal man. 25 Anon shall I roast him into the Scorching Fire. 26 What will let you know what the Scorching is like! 27 It lets nothing remain and leaves nothing [unburned], 28 It shrivelleth the man. 29 Over it are nineteen (angels as guardians and keepers of Hell). 30 And We have not made the keepers of the Fire except angels. And We have not made their number except as a trial for those who disbelieve - that those who were given the Scripture will be convinced and those who have believed will increase in faith and those who were given the Scripture and the believers will not doubt and that those in whose hearts is hypocrisy and the disbelievers will say, "What does Allah intend by this as an example?" Thus does Allah leave astray whom He wills and guides whom He wills. And none knows the soldiers of your Lord except Him. And mention of the Fire is not but a reminder to humanity. 31
