The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
O you who are clothed! 1 Arise, and warn, 2 Thy Lord magnify, 3 Thy raiment purify, 4 And keep away from Ar-Rujz (the idols)! 5 and bestow not favour in order to seek from others a greater return, 6 But, for thy Lord's (Cause), be patient and constant! 7 Then when the horn shall be blown, 8 Surely that day will be a day of anguish, 9 For the unbelievers, anything but easy. 10 Leave Me (to deal) with him whom I created lonely, 11 And then granted him resources in abundance. 12 And sons to be by his side!- 13 and whom I have provided with every resource, 14 and who still desires more. 15 No! Indeed, he has been toward Our verses obstinate. 16 I will constrain him to a hard ascent. 17 Indeed he thought, and inwardly decided. 18 and thus he destroys himself, the way he meditates: 19 Again, death seized him, how was his determining! 20 Then he looked, 21 then he frowned and scowled, 22 then he retreated, and waxed proud. 23 and says, "All this is mere spellbinding eloquence handed down [from olden times]! 24 Naught is this but the word of Man. 25 I will drive him into Saqar. 26 What do you think Hell-fire is? 27 It shall not spare, nor leave. 28 It scorches the mortal. 29 there are nineteen [angels] in charge of it -- 30 And We have not made the keepers of the Fire except angels. And We have not made their number except as a trial for those who disbelieve - that those who were given the Scripture will be convinced and those who have believed will increase in faith and those who were given the Scripture and the believers will not doubt and that those in whose hearts is hypocrisy and the disbelievers will say, "What does Allah intend by this as an example?" Thus does Allah leave astray whom He wills and guides whom He wills. And none knows the soldiers of your Lord except Him. And mention of the Fire is not but a reminder to humanity. 31
