The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
56 verses, revealed in Mecca after Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil) before The Key (Al-Faatehah)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
O thou shrouded in thy mantle, 1 Arise and warn! 2 and exalt your Lord, 3 cleanse your clothes, 4 And uncleanliness avoid 5 Nor expect, in giving, any increase (for thyself)! 6 and be patient unto thy Lord. 7 For when the trumpet shall sound, 8 that Day will be a hard and distressing Day. 9 Dolorous for the unbelievers. 10 Leave Me alone with he whom I created 11 and whom I have granted abundant wealth 12 and children as [love's] witnesses, 13 And I adjusted affairs for him adjustably; 14 then he is eager that I should do more. 15 By no means! For to Our Signs he has been refractory! 16 I will constrain him to a hard ascent. 17 He planned and plotted. 18 and woe to him; how he plotted! 19 Then may he be destroyed [for] how he deliberated. 20 Then he looked, 21 Then he frowned and he looked in a bad tempered way; 22 Then turned his back and waxed proud, 23 Then he said: "This is nothing but magic from that of old; 24 This is naught else than speech of mortal man. 25 I shall make him suffer the torment of hell. 26 And what will make you realize what hell is? 27 It leaves and spares no one and nothing. 28 it scorches the skin; 29 Over it are nineteen (angels as guardians and keepers of Hell). 30 We have not appointed any one but angels as keepers of Hell, and their number that We have fixed is to make it a means of contention for disbelievers, so that those who were given the Book may be certain, and the faith of the believers may have greater increase, and the people of the Book and believers may not be deceived, and the sceptics and infidels may say: "What does God mean by this parable?" That is how God leads whosoever He will astray, and guides whosoever He will. None knows the armies of your Lord save Him self. This is no more than reminder for mankind. 31
