The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
O the Cloaked One! (Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him) 1 Arise and warn 2 Thy Lord magnify 3 Thy raiment purify, 4 and defilement flee! 5 do not bestow a favour in the expectation of receiving more in return; 6 but unto thy Sustainer turn in patience. 7 And when the trumpet is blown, 8 That Day will be a difficult day 9 Dolorous for the unbelievers. 10 Leave to Me the one, whom I have created all by Myself, 11 whom I have endowed with abundant riches, 12 And sons present by his side. 13 And made (life) smooth for him. 14 Yet he desires that I should give more. 15 By no means! For to Our Signs he has been refractory! 16 I shall soon constrain him to a hard ascent. 17 He reflected and then hatched a scheme. 18 May he be accursed, how he planned! 19 Again accursed be he, how evilly did he decide! 20 Then he beheld, 21 Then he frowned and scowled; 22 Then he turned back and was haughty; 23 And said, "This is not but magic imitated [from others]. 24 These are only words from a mere mortal". 25 I will soon fling him into hell. 26 And what knoweth thou that which the Scorching Fire? 27 It spares not (any sinner), nor does it leave (anything unburnt)! 28 and it burns the flesh. 29 Over it are nineteen [angels]. 30 And We have appointed none but the angels to be wardens of the Fire. And their number we have made only a trial for those who disbelieve, so that those who are vouchsafed the Book may be convinced, and that those who believe may increase in faith, and that those who are vouchsafed the Book and the believers may not doubt, and that those in whose hearts is a disease and the infidels may say: what meaneth Allah by this description! In this wise Allah sendeth astray whomsoever He will, and guideth whomsoever He will. And none knoweth the hosts of thy Lord but He. And it is naught but an admonition unto man. 31
