The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
O you (Muhammad SAW) enveloped (in garments)! 1 arise and warn, 2 Glorify your Lord, 3 And your garments do purify, 4 And uncleanness do shun, 5 Give not, thinking to gain greater 6 Exercise patience to please your Lord. 7 Finally, when the Trumpet is sounded, 8 That, at that time, shall be a difficult day, 9 For the unbelievers, anything but easy. 10 Leave Me with the one I created alone 11 And give him vast riches, 12 And sons abiding in his presence 13 And made several preparations for him. 14 Then he desires that I should add more. 15 Never! For he is an enemy to Our signs! 16 We shall make him suffer the torment of hell without relief. 17 For lo! he did consider; then he planned - 18 May he be condemned! 19 Then may he be destroyed [for] how he deliberated. 20 Then he thought; 21 Then frowned and grimaced. 22 Then turned his back and waxed proud, 23 and said: 'This is no more than traced sorcery; 24 “This is nothing but the speech of a man.” 25 I will surely roast him in the Scorching. 26 And what will make you realize what hell is? 27 It shall not spare, nor leave. 28 Blackening the skins. 29 Over it are nineteen (angels as guardians and keepers of Hell). 30 We have made only angels as the keepers of the fire (for they are the strongest in carrying out Our commands). Our informing (people) of the numbers of these angels is a trial for the disbelievers. It gives more certainty to the people of the Book and strengthens the faith of the believers. The people of the Book and the believers have no doubt about it. We have fixed the number to make the disbelievers and those whose hearts are sick say, "What does God mean by such a parable?" Thus, God guides and causes to go astray whomever He wants. No one knows about the army of your Lord except He Himself. This parable is a reminder for mankind. 31
