The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
O the Cloaked One! (Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him) 1 arise and give warning! 2 and magnify the glory of your Lord, 3 And your garments purify! 4 shun uncleanness; 5 And give not a thing in order to have more (or consider not your deeds of Allah's obedience as a favour to Allah). 6 be patient unto your Lord. 7 And when the trumpet is blown, 8 that shall be a Harsh Day 9 Not easy upon the disbelievers. 10 Leave Me and him whom I created alone, 11 To whom I granted resources in abundance, 12 and sons to be by his side, 13 And made things easy for them. 14 and who still desires more. 15 Nay! For lo! he hath been stubborn to Our revelations. 16 On him I shall impose a fearful doom. 17 For he thought and he plotted;- 18 May he be accursed, how he planned! 19 What an evil plan he has made! 20 Then he looked, 21 then frowned and scowled; 22 then he retreated and grew proud 23 He said, 'This is naught but a trumped-up sorcery; 24 "This is nothing but the word of a human being!" 25 I will drive him into Saqar. 26 What could make you conceive what hell-fire is? 27 It spares not, neither leaves alone 28 Burning the skins! 29 Over it are appointed nineteen. 30 And We have set none but angels as guardians of the Fire, and We have fixed their number (19) only as a trial for the disbelievers, in order that the people of the Scripture (Jews and Christians) may arrive at a certainty [that this Quran is the truth as it agrees with their Books i.e. their number (19) is written in the Taurat (Torah) and the Injeel (Gospel)] and the believers may increase in Faith (as this Quran is the truth) and that no doubts may be left for the people of the Scripture and the believers, and that those in whose hearts is a disease (of hypocrisy) and the disbelievers may say: "What Allah intends by this (curious) example?" Thus Allah leads astray whom He wills and guides whom He wills. And none can know the hosts of your Lord but He. And this (Hell) is nothing else than a (warning) reminder to mankind. 31
