The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
56 verses, revealed in Mecca after Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil) before The Key (Al-Faatehah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
O you (Prophet Muhamad), the cloaked, 1 Arise and warn, 2 Thy Lord magnify, 3 purify your garments; 4 And all defilement shun! 5 and bestow not favour in order to seek from others a greater return, 6 but unto thy Sustainer turn in patience. 7 For when the trumpet blows 8 it will be a hard day 9 For the disbelievers - not easy. 10 LEAVE Me alone [to deal] with him whom I have created alone, 11 And gave him vast wealth. 12 And sons present by his side. 13 I made things smooth and easy for him, 14 then he is eager that I should do more. 15 By no means; he is stubbornly opposed to Our Signs. 16 I shall inflict on him hardship, 17 He reflected, and then determined 18 and thus he destroys himself, the way he meditates: 19 What an evil plan he has made! 20 Then he looked, 21 Then he frowned and scowled, 22 Then he turned away, and was haughty. 23 He said, 'This is naught but a trumped-up sorcery; 24 This is nothing but the word of mortal man!" 25 I will cast him into hell. 26 What will let you know what the Scorching is like! 27 Naught doth it permit to endure, and naught doth it leave alone!- 28 Darkening and changing the colour of man! 29 Over it are nineteen. 30 And We have not made the wardens of the fire others than angels, and We have not made their number but as a trial for those who disbelieve, that those who have been given the book may be certain and those who believe may increase in faith, and those who have been given the book and the believers may not doubt, and that those in whose hearts is a disease and the unbelievers may say: What does Allah mean by this parable? Thus does Allah make err whom He pleases, and He guides whom He pleases, and none knows the hosts of your Lord but He Himself; and this is naught but a reminder to the mortals. 31
