Nay, and by the moon, 32 and by the night when it recedes, 33 By the dawn when it lightens! 34 it is one of the greatest trials, 35 As a warning to humanity - 36 to whoever among you desires to go forward, or lag behind. 37 [On the Day of Judgment,] every human being will be held in pledge for whatever [evil] he has wrought 38 Except those of the right hand 39 in Gardens they will question 40 And (ask) of the Sinners: 41 What led you into the Scorching Fire? 42 and they shall reply, "We were not among those who prayed; 43 and we did not feed the poor, 44 We indulged and persisted in useless disputes, 45 And we used to call the day of judgment a lie; 46 until there came to us the certainty. 47 So there will not benefit them the intercession of [any] intercessors. 48 What is the matter with people that they are turning away from this Exhortation, 49 As if they were startled donkeys – 50 Fleeing away from a lion. 51 Yea, everyone of them claims that he [himself] ought to have been given revelations unfolded! 52 By no means! Aye, they fear not the Hereafter. 53 No indeed; surely it is a Reminder; 54 Let anyone who seeks guidance do so. 55 And they will not heed unless Allah willeth (it). He is the fount of fear. He is the fount of Mercy. 56
