The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Read: In the name of thy Lord Who createth, 1 Has created man from a clot (a piece of thick coagulated blood). 2 Read, and your Lord only is the Most Beneficent, 3 Who taught by the pen - 4 Taught man what he knew not. 5 Nay! man is most surely inordinate, 6 because he thinks himself self-sufficient: 7 Lo! unto thy Lord is the return. 8 Have you seen him who restrains 9 A votary when he turns to his devotions? 10 Tell me, if he (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) is on the guidance (of Allah)? 11 Or enjoins righteousness? 12 Seest thou if he denies (Truth) and turns away? 13 Knoweth he not that Allah beholdeth? 14 By no means! If he desist not We shall seize and deal him by the forelock 15 his lying, sinful forelock. 16 So let him call his associates, 17 We shall summon the guards of Hell. 18 Nay, heed him not: But bow down in adoration, and bring thyself the closer (to Allah)! ۩ 19
True are the words of God the Almighty.
