I say the truth, and call the moon to witness, 32 And the night when on the wane, 33 by the brightening dawn, 34 Indeed, the Fire is of the greatest [afflictions] 35 A warning for people -- 36 To any of you that chooses to press forward, or to follow behind;- 37 Each one is a hostage to one's deeds, 38 Save those who will stand on the right hand. 39 In gardens they will ask one another 40 of those who were lost in sin: 41 [And asking them], "What put you into Saqar?" 42 They shall say, 'We were not of those who prayed, and 43 "Nor were we of those who fed the indigent; 44 We used to wade (in vain dispute) with (all) waders, 45 and we gave the lie to the Day of Judgement 46 Till death overtook us. 47 The intercession of their intercessors shall not benefit them. 48 So what is the matter with them that they turn away from the advice? 49 as though they were frightened wild asses, 50 Fleeing away from a lion. 51 Indeed, everyone of them desires to have sheets of revelations unfolded before them -- 52 Nay, verily. They fear not the Hereafter. 53 By no means! Verily this Qur'an is an admonition. 54 So whosoever will may heed. 55 But none will remember, unless Allah wills, He is the Owner of fear, the Owner of forgiveness. 56
