Nay, and by the moon, 32 and by the night when it recedes, 33 And [by] the morning when it brightens, 34 Surely it (hell) is one of the gravest (misfortunes), 35 A warning to mortals, 36 To whoever wills among you to proceed or stay behind. 37 Every soul will be a pledge for that which it hath earned, 38 Save those who will stand on the right hand. 39 who shall be in the Gardens, and shall ask 40 concerning the sinners, 41 “What drove you to Hell?” 42 They will answer: "We were not among those who prayed; 43 And we used not to feed the poor; 44 And we used to enter into vain discourse with those who entered into vain discourses. 45 and the Day of Judgment we were wont to call a lie 46 Till the Inevitable came unto us. 47 The intercession of their intercessors shall not benefit them. 48 What aileth them, therefore, that they are from the admonition turning away? 49 like frightened donkeys 50 Fleeing away from a lion. 51 Rather each one of them desires that he should be given open Books. 52 By no means! Aye, they fear not the Hereafter. 53 By no means! Verily this Qur'an is an admonition. 54 So whosoever willeth may heed it. 55 And they will not heed unless Allah willeth (it). He is the fount of fear. He is the fount of Mercy. 56
