Nay; I swear by the moon, 32 and the night when it retreats 33 and the morn when it dawns! 34 Indeed, the Fire is of the greatest [afflictions] 35 A warning to mortals, 36 to whoever of you desires to go forward or lag behind. 37 Every soul is mortgaged for its own deeds. 38 Save those who will stand on the right hand. 39 In Gardens they will question 40 About the criminals, 41 "What has brought you into hell-fire?" 42 They will answer: We were not of those who prayed 43 Nor did we used to feed the poor. 44 and we indulged in vain talk with those who indulged in vain talk, 45 and we gave the lie to the Day of Judgement 46 Until there came to us the certainty." 47 The mediation of no mediators will avail them then. 48 Then what is the matter with them that they turn away from admonition?- 49 As if they were affrighted asses, 50 That had fled from a lion? 51 Forsooth, each one of them wants to be given scrolls (of revelation) spread out! 52 No! They do not fear the Hereafter -- 53 No! Indeed, the Qur'an is a reminder 54 so whoever wills shall remember it. 55 And they will not receive admonition unless Allah wills; He (Allah) is the One, deserving that mankind should be afraid of, and should be dutiful to Him, and should not take any Ilah (God) along with Him, and He is the One Who forgives (sins). 56
