No, by the moon! 32 And [by] the night when it departs 33 By the dawn when it lightens! 34 This is but one of the mighty (portents), 35 as a warner to mortals. 36 A warning unto him of you who shall go forward or who chooseth to lag behind. 37 Every soul, for what it has earned, will be retained 38 Except the companions of the right, 39 In Gardens they will question 40 About Al-Mujrimun (polytheists, criminals, disbelievers, etc.), (And they will say to them): 41 "What has brought you into hell-fire?" 42 They will reply: 'We were not among those who prayed 43 and we did not feed the needy. 44 and we were wont to indulge in sinning together with all [the others] who indulged in it; 45 "And we used to deny the Day of Judgment, 46 Till death overtook us. 47 And so, of no benefit to them could be the intercession of any that would intercede for them. 48 If such will be the Day of Judgment, what is the matter with them? Why do they run away from guidance, 49 as though they were frightened wild asses, 50 running away from a lion? 51 Indeed, each one of them desires to be given unrolled scrolls. 52 Nay, but they do not [believe in and hence, do not] fear the life to come. 53 There is no doubt that the Quran is a guide. 54 So, whoever wills may benefit from it. 55 And they will not mind unless Allah please. He is worthy to be feared and worthy to forgive. 56
