By the moon, 32 And by oath of the night when it turns back. 33 and the morning when it appears, 34 Verily, it (Hell, or their denial of the Prophet Muhammad SAW, or the Day of Resurrection) is but one of the greatest calamities. 35 a warning to mortal man 36 to whoever of you desires to go forward or lag behind. 37 Every soul is held in pledge for what it earns, 38 Save the fellows of the right. 39 In gardens they will ask one another 40 From the guilty. 41 "What has brought you into hell-fire?" 42 They will say: "We were not of those who prayed; 43 and we did not feed the poor; 44 We plunged in with the plungers 45 And rejected the Day of Judgement as a lie 46 Until the certainty (of death) had come upon us. 47 So there will not benefit them the intercession of [any] intercessors. 48 If such will be the Day of Judgment, what is the matter with them? Why do they run away from guidance, 49 like frightened donkeys 50 Fleeing from a lion? 51 Aye! every one of them desireth that: he should be vouchsafed scrolls expanded. 52 No indeed; the truth is that they have no fear of the Hereafter. 53 but this is truly a reminder. 54 Let him who will take heed: 55 And they will not receive admonition unless Allah wills; He (Allah) is the One, deserving that mankind should be afraid of, and should be dutiful to Him, and should not take any Ilah (God) along with Him, and He is the One Who forgives (sins). 56
