Nay! By the moon 32 And the night when on the wane, 33 and by the day when it dawns (with its radiance), 34 Indeed, the Fire is of the greatest [afflictions] 35 A warning unto humankind 36 Whoever of you desires to progress or lag behind. 37 Every soul, for what it has earned, will be retained 38 Save the fellows of the right. 39 Sitting in the gardens, asking 40 Concerning the guilty: 41 What led you into the Scorching Fire? 42 They will reply: 'We were not among those who prayed 43 we fed not the needy, 44 "But we used to talk vanities with vain talkers; 45 and we denied the Day of Judgement 46 Until there came to us the certainty." 47 And so, of no benefit to them could be the intercession of any that would intercede for them. 48 Then what is wrong with them that they turn away from admonition, 49 as though they were frightened wild asses, 50 Fleeing from a lion? 51 Indeed, everyone of them desires to have sheets of revelations unfolded before them -- 52 This will certainly never be the case! In fact, they are not afraid of the Day of Judgment. 53 There is no doubt that the Quran is a guide. 54 Let him then who heeds remember it. 55 they will only take heed if God so wills: He is the Lord who is worthy to be feared: the Lord of forgiveness. 56
