The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
The Hour has drawn near, and the moon has been cleft asunder (the people of Makkah requested Prophet Muhammad SAW to show them a miracle, so he showed them the splitting of the moon). 1 And if they behold a sign, they turn away and say: magic continuous 2 They also gave the lie to (the splitting asunder of the moon) and only followed their desires. Yet everything is destined to reach an end. 3 And indeed there has come to them news (in this Quran) wherein there is (enough warning) to check (them from evil), 4 which are full of wisdom; but the warnings do not help. 5 So turn (your) back on them (for) the day when the inviter shall invite them to a hard task, 6 abasing their eyes, they shall come forth from the tombs as if they were scattered grasshoppers, 7 running in confusion towards the Summoning Voice; [and] those who [now] deny the truth will exclaim, "Calamitous is this Day!" 8 ۞ There belied before them the people of Nuh. So they belied Our bondman and said: a madman; and moreover he was reproven. 9 He therefore prayed to his Lord, “I am overpowered, therefore avenge me.” 10 Then opened We the gates of heaven with pouring water 11 And We caused the earth to gush forth with springs, so the waters met (and rose) to the extent decreed. 12 And We bare him on a thing of planks and nails. 13 Floating under Our Eyes, a reward for him who had been rejected! 14 We have left this as a sign: but will anyone take heed? 15 And how severe is the suffering which I inflict when My warnings are disregarded! 16 And We have indeed made the Quran easy to understand and remember, then is there any that will remember (or receive admonition)? 17 Aad too belied. How then were My punishment and My warnings! 18 Indeed, We sent upon them a screaming wind on a day of continuous misfortune, 19 and snatched people up as though they were stumps of uprooted palmtrees. 20 How was then My punishment and My commination! 21 And in truth We have made the Qur'an easy to remember; but is there any that remembereth? 22
