Nay, by the moon, 32 And the night when it withdraweth 33 And the daybreak when it shines; 34 Verily, it (Hell, or their denial of the Prophet Muhammad SAW, or the Day of Resurrection) is but one of the greatest calamities. 35 A warning to mankind, 36 To any of you that chooses to press forward, or to follow behind;- 37 Every soul will be in captivity for its deeds 38 save those who shall have attained to righteousness: 39 who in their gardens will be enquiring 40 Concerning the culprits: 41 "What has brought you into the Fire of Hell ?" 42 They will say: we have not been of those who prayed. 43 and we did not feed the poor, 44 and we were wont to indulge in sinning together with all [the others] who indulged in it; 45 and we gave the lie to the Day of Judgement 46 "Until there came to us (the death) that is certain." 47 So no intercession of intercessors will be of any use to them. 48 What is then the matter with them, that they turn away from the admonition 49 As if they were frightened (wild) donkeys. 50 Fleeing from a lion? 51 No indeed; each one of them desires that open letters be sent to each of them. 52 No! But they do not fear the Hereafter. 53 Nay; this is an Exhortation. 54 So whoever pleases may mind it. 55 No one will seek guidance unless God wills it. He alone is worthy of being feared and He is the Source of Forgiveness. 56
