Nay, by the Moon 32 And [by] the night when it departs 33 The morning when it is unveiled, 34 Surely it (hell) is one of the gravest (misfortunes), 35 a warning to humans, 36 To whoever wills among you to proceed or stay behind. 37 Every soul, for what it has earned, will be retained 38 save the Companions of the Right; 39 In gardens they will ask one another 40 and will ask of the criminals, 41 "What was it that brought you to Hell?" 42 They will reply, "We did not pray, 43 “Nor used to feed the needy.” 44 "And we used to talk falsehood (all that which Allah hated) with vain talkers. 45 and rejected the Day of Judgment 46 until certainty came upon us [in death]." 47 So the intercession of intercessors shall not avail them. 48 What is then the matter with them, that they turn away from the admonition 49 As if they were frightened (wild) donkeys. 50 Fleeing from a lion? 51 Rather each one of them desires that he should be given open Books. 52 No indeed; but they do not fear the Hereafter. 53 Nay; this is an Exhortation. 54 Let him then who heeds remember it. 55 And they shall not heed unless Allah willeth. He is the Lord of piety, and the Lord of forgiveness. 56
