Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ I swear by the Day of Resurrection; 1 and nay, I swear by the self-reproaching soul! 2 What, does man reckon We shall not gather his bones? 3 Indeed, We have the power to restore his very finger tips! 4 Rather, the human desires to continue in his immorality, 5 'When will the Day of Resurrection be' he asks, 6 When, then, the sight shall be confounded. 7 and the moon eclipsed, 8 And the sun and moon will be joined together (by going one into the other or folded up or deprived of their light, etc.) 9 Man shall say on that day: Whither to fly to? 10 By no means! No place of safety! 11 With your Lord alone will be the retreat that Day. 12 On that day, people will be informed of all that they had done and all that they were supposed to do. 13 In fact, man himself is keeping an eye on his state of affairs! 14 in spite of all the excuses he may offer. 15 [Prophet], do not move your tongue too fast in your attempt to learn this revelation: 16 Ours it is to gather it, and to recite it. 17 So, when We recite it, follow thou its recitation. 18 and then, it will be for Us to make its meaning clear. 19 Nay! But you love the present life, 20 And you have forsaken the Hereafter. 21 On the Day of Judgment some faces will be bright, 22 looking up to their Sustainer; 23 And on that day some faces will be ghastly. 24 In the thought that some back-breaking calamity was about to be inflicted on them; 25 By no means! When it cometh up to the collar-bone. 26 And men say: Where is the wizard (who can save him now)? 27 and he knows that it is the time of parting; 28 And anguish will be heaped upon anguish: 29 Unto thy Lord that day will be the driving. 30
