Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ Nay! I swear by the day of resurrection. 1 And I swear by the self-reproaching soul. 2 Deemest man that We shall not assemble his bones? 3 Yes indeed; We have the power to remould even his finger-tips. 4 None the less man chooses to deny what lies ahead of him, 5 He asks: When is the day of resurrection? 6 So when the eyes will be blinded by light. 7 And the moon is buried in darkness. 8 And the sun and the moon are joined, 9 upon that day man shall say, 'Whither to flee?' 10 Never so, for there will be no escape. 11 On that day, the station is only towards your Lord. 12 To man will be declared on that Day that which he hath sent on and left behind. 13 Rather, man, against himself, will be a witness, 14 even though he offers his excuses. 15 Move not your tongue with it, [O Muhammad], to hasten with recitation of the Qur'an. 16 Surely on Us (devolves) the collecting of it and the reciting of it. 17 Therefore when We have recited it, follow its recitation. 18 Then indeed, to explain its details to you is upon Us. 19 Nay; the truth is that you love ardently (the good of this world) that can be obtained hastily, 20 And leave the Hereafter. 21 Some faces will be radiant on that Day, 22 Looking towards their Lord; 23 And some faces, that Day, will be sad and dismal, 24 Knowing that there will be made to befall them some great calamity. 25 No! When the soul has reached the collar bones 26 And men say: Where is the wizard (who can save him now)? 27 and he realises that the hour of parting is come, 28 And anguish will be heaped upon anguish: 29 To your Lord then will be the driving. 30
