Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ NAY! I call to witness the Day of Resurrection! 1 And I do call to witness the self-reproaching spirit: (Eschew Evil). 2 Do men think that We shall never be able to assemble their bones? 3 Indeed, We have the power to restore his very finger tips! 4 Nay, but man desires to continue on as a libertine, 5 He asketh: when will the Day of Resurrection be? 6 but when the sight is dazed 7 and the moon is eclipsed, 8 and the sun and moon are brought together, 9 On that day man will cry out, “Where shall I flee?” 10 No! There is no refuge! 11 The only place of refuge will be with God. 12 That Day will Man be told (all) that he put forward, and all that he put back. 13 In fact, man himself is keeping an eye on his state of affairs! 14 Though he puts forth his excuses. 15 Move not your tongue with it, [O Muhammad], to hasten with recitation of the Qur'an. 16 Surely on Us (devolves) the collecting of it and the reciting of it. 17 So, when We recite it, follow thou its recitation. 18 Then Ours it is to explain it. 19 NAY, but [most of] you love this fleeting life, 20 And leave the Hereafter. 21 [Some] faces, that Day, will be radiant, 22 Looking toward their Lord; 23 and some faces will on that Day be gloomy, 24 certain of facing a great calamity. 25 No indeed; when it reaches the clavicles 26 And it is asked: "Is there any reciter of charms and amulets?" 27 And he bethinketh that it is the time of parting. 28 When legs are twisted around each other, 29 Unto thy Lord that day will be the driving. 30
