Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ I do call to witness the Resurrection Day; 1 and by the self accusing soul (that you will certainly be resurrected). 2 Does man think We shall not put his bones together? 3 Indeed, We have the power to restore his very finger tips! 4 Yet man wants to deny what is ahead of him: 5 He asks: When is the day of resurrection? 6 At length, when the sight is dazed, 7 And the moon becomes dark, 8 and the sun and moon are brought together, 9 upon that day man shall say, 'Whither to flee?' 10 Never so, for there will be no escape. 11 Unto your Lord (Alone) will be the place of rest that Day. 12 Then man will be told what he had sent ahead (of good) and what he had left behind. 13 In fact, people are well-aware of their own soul 14 Though he may put forth his excuses (to cover his evil deeds). 15 Move not your tongue with it, [O Muhammad], to hasten with recitation of the Qur'an. 16 It is for Us to collect it and to promulgate it: 17 Therefore when We have recited it, follow its recitation. 18 The exposition of its meaning surely rests on Us. 19 Not [as you think, that you (mankind) will not be resurrected and recompensed for your deeds], but (you men) love the present life of this world, 20 and are heedless of the Everlasting Life. 21 Some faces will on that Day be bright with happiness, 22 and look forward to receiving mercy from their Lord. 23 And (other) faces on that day shall be gloomy, 24 Thinking that some calamity was about to fall on them; 25 Nay, but when the life cometh up to the throat 26 And it is said, "Who will cure [him]?" 27 And he will conclude that it was (the Time) of Parting; 28 and leg is intertwined with leg, 29 upon that day unto thy Lord shall be the driving. 30
