Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ Nay! I swear by the day of resurrection. 1 and by the self-reproaching soul! 2 Do men think that We shall never be able to assemble their bones? 3 Indeed, We have the power to restore his very finger tips! 4 Nay! man desires to give the lie to what is before him. 5 He asks, "When will be the Day of Judgment?" 6 But [on that Day], when mortal sight is confounded, 7 And the moon is buried in darkness. 8 and the sun and moon are brought together, 9 Man shall say on that day: Whither to fly to? 10 But there is nowhere to take refuge: 11 Before thy Lord (alone), that Day will be the place of rest. 12 Then man will be told what he had sent ahead (of good) and what he had left behind. 13 In fact, man himself is keeping an eye on his state of affairs! 14 And even if he presents all the excuses he has, none will be listened to. 15 Move not your tongue with it, [O Muhammad], to hasten with recitation of the Qur'an. 16 for, behold, it is for Us to gather it [in thy heart,] and to cause it to be read [as it ought to be read]. 17 And when We read it, follow thou the reading; 18 It's explanation is upon Us. 19 No indeed; but you love the hasty world, 20 And leave alone the Hereafter. 21 On that Day there shall be radiant faces, 22 Looking towards their Lord; 23 And some faces, that Day, will be sad and dismal, 24 dreading some great affliction. 25 NAY, but when [the last breath] comes up to the throat [of a dying man,] 26 and the angels say, "Who will take away his soul, 27 and when he thinks it is the time of departure 28 And anguish will be heaped upon anguish: 29 To your Lord then will be the driving. 30
