Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ I swear by the Day of Resurrection 1 Nay! I swear by the self-accusing soul. 2 Does man think that We cannot [resurrect him and] bring his bones together again? 3 Yes, We are Able to put together in perfect order the tips of his fingers. 4 Yet man is sceptical of what is right before him. 5 He asks, “When will be the Day of Resurrection?” 6 So, when the sight shall be dazed, 7 and the moon is eclipsed, 8 And the sun and moon are joined together,- 9 on that Day will man exclaim "Whither to flee?" 10 But there is nowhere to take refuge: 11 To your Lord, that Day, is the [place of] permanence. 12 On that Day the human shall be informed of his former and latter deeds. 13 nay, but man shall against himself be an eye-witness, 14 Although he tender his excuses. 15 (O Prophet), do not stir your tongue hastily (to commit the Revelation to memory). 16 We shall be responsible for its collection and its recitation. 17 Wherefore when We recite it, follow thou the reciting thereof. 18 Then Ours it is to explain it. 19 Nay; the truth is that you love ardently (the good of this world) that can be obtained hastily, 20 And you have forsaken the Hereafter. 21 Some faces that Day shall be Nadirah (shining and radiant). 22 Looking toward their Lord. 23 And that day will other faces be despondent, 24 Thou wilt know that some great disaster is about to fall on them. 25 Yea, when (the soul) reaches to the collar-bone (in its exit), 26 And they will say, “Is there any one – any magician?” 27 and he thinks that it is the parting 28 And one shin will curl up with the other shin. 29 upon that day unto thy Lord shall be the driving. 30
