The Human (Al-Insan)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Indeed there has been a time for man, when even his name did not exist anywhere. 1 Surely We have created man from a small life-germ uniting (itself): We mean to try him, so We have made him hearing, seeing. 2 We showed him the right path whether he would be grateful or ungrateful. 3 [Now,] behold, for those who deny the truth, We have prepared chains, iron collars and a blazing fire, but 4 Verily the pious shall drink of a cup whereof the admixture is like unto camphor. 5 a spring from which God's servants will drink, making it gush forth in branches. 6 Those who fulfil their vows and fear the Day whose evil shall be diffused far and wide, 7 And they feed with food, for love of Him, the needy, and the orphan and the captive. 8 Saying: we feed you only for the sake of Allah; we desire not from you any recompense or thanks. 9 for we fear from our Lord a stern, frownful Day' 10 Therefore Allah will guard them from the evil of that day and cause them to meet with ease and happiness; 11 And gave them Paradise and silk clothes, as a reward for their patience. 12 There they will recline on elevated couches and will be subjected neither to the burning heat of the sun nor to bitter cold. 13 And close upon them will be the shades thereof, and low will hang the clusters thereof greatly. 14 and there shall be passed around them vessels of silver and goblets of crystal, 15 Glass made from silver, which the servers have filled up to the measure. 16 There will they drink a cup flavoured with ginger 17 drawn from a spring (in Paradise) called Salsabil. 18 ۞ Immortal youths will go about them, when you see them, you would suppose them to be scattered pearls. 19 wherever you look, you will see bliss and a great kingdom: 20 They [i.e., the virtuous] shall be attired in garments of fine green silk and rich brocade and will be adorned with bracelets of silver. Their Lord will give them a pure wine to drink. 21 It will be said to them, “This is your reward – indeed your efforts have been appreciated.” 22
