The Human (Al-Insan)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Has there [not] come upon man a period of time when he was not a thing [even] mentioned? 1 Verily, it is We who have created man out of a drop of sperm intermingled, so that We might try him [in his later life]: and therefore We made him a being endowed with hearing and sight. 2 Verily We! We shewed him the way; then he becometh either thankful or ingrate. 3 For the unbelievers, We have kept ready chains and fetters and a Blazing Fire. 4 Lo! the righteous shall drink of a cup whereof the mixture is of Kafur, 5 a source [of bliss] whereof God's servants shall drink, seeing it flow in a flow abundant. 6 They (are those who) fulfill (their) vows, and they fear a Day whose evil will be wide-spreading. 7 And they give food out of love for Him to the poor and the orphan and the captive: 8 (Saying): "We feed you seeking Allah's Countenance only. We wish for no reward, nor thanks from you. 9 behold, we stand in awe of our Sustainer's judgment on a distressful, fateful Day!" 10 So Allah shall guard them against the woe of that Day, and will procure them freshness and joy, 11 And shall recompense them for that which they patiently bare with a Garden and silken garment. 12 In that [garden] they will on couches recline, and will know therein neither [burning] sun nor cold severe, 13 Near them shall be its shades with its clusters hung gently down, 14 and passed around them shall be silver vessels, and crystal goblets, 15 Also there will be crystal clear goblets of silver containing the exact measure of drink which they desire. 16 And in Paradise they will be given to drink cups, filled with a mixture of ginger. 17 therein a fountain whose name is called Salsabil. 18 ۞ Immortal youths shall surround them, waiting upon them; when you see them, you would think they are scattered pearls. 19 And when thou lookest, it is there thou wilt see a Bliss and a Realm Magnificent. 20 They will have fine green silk and brocade, and they will be decked with bracelets of silver. Their Lord will provide them with a drink of pure wine. 21 Verily this is for you by way of recompense, and your endeavour hath been accepted. 22
