The Human (Al-Insan)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Indeed there has been a time for man, when even his name did not exist anywhere. 1 We created the human being from the union of sperm and egg to test him. We gave him hearing and vision. 2 We showed him the Way: whether he be grateful or ungrateful (rests on his will). 3 [Now,] behold, for those who deny the truth, We have prepared chains, iron collars and a blazing fire, but 4 Surely the pious shall drink of a cup whose mixture is camphor, 5 From a spring of which the votaries of God will drink and make it flow in abundance. 6 Those who fulfil their vows and fear the Day whose evil shall be diffused far and wide, 7 And out of His love, they give food to the needy, the orphan and the prisoner. 8 [Saying], "We feed you only for the countenance of Allah. We wish not from you reward or gratitude. 9 We fear the dismal day calamitous from our Lord." 10 So Allah will save them from the evil of that Day and has secured for them radiance and joyfulness, 11 And hath awarded them for all that they endured, a Garden and silk attire; 12 Reclining upon couches, they will find therein neither the heat of the sun nor bitter, biting cold, 13 since its [blissful] shades will come down low over them, and low will hang down its clusters of fruit, most easy to reach. 14 and there shall be passed around them vessels of silver, and goblets of crystal, 15 crystal-like, [but] of silver - the measure whereof they alone will determine. 16 And they will be given to drink there of a Cup (of Wine) mixed with Zanjabil,- 17 [derived from] a source [to be found] therein, whose name is "Seek Thy Way". 18 ۞ Immortal youths shall surround them, waiting upon them; when you see them, you would think they are scattered pearls. 19 When you see them, you see bliss, and a great Kingdom. 20 Upon them will be green Garments of fine silk and heavy brocade, and they will be adorned with Bracelets of silver; and their Lord will give to them to drink of a Wine Pure and Holy. 21 'See, this is your recompense, your striving is thanked' 22
