The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Read with the name of your Lord Who created, 1 created man from a clot of congealed blood. 2 Proclaim! And thy Lord is Most Bountiful,- 3 Who taught (to write) with the pen 4 taught man what he did not know! 5 Yet man behaves arrogantly, 6 As he bethinkest himself selfsufficient. 7 Surely! Unto your Lord is the return. 8 Have you seen the one who forbids 9 A votary when he turns to his devotions? 10 Have you thought, if he had been on guidance 11 Or had enjoined piety, (it would have been better)? 12 Seest thou if he denies (Truth) and turns away? 13 Does he not know that Allah sees everything? 14 And yet indeed if he does not desist We shall drag him by the forelock, 15 A forelock, lying, sinning. 16 So let him call his associates, 17 We too would summon the braves of the army. 18 No indeed; do thou not obey him, and bow thyself, and draw nigh. ۩ 19
God the Almighty always says the truth.
