In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
I CALL TO WITNESS those who are sent consecutively, 1 And those raging swiftly; 2 by the scatterers scattering 3 And the scattering winds scattering. 4 and those (angels) dropping, reminding 5 To complete the argument or to warn. 6 surely that which you are promised is about to fall! 7 So when stars are effaced. 8 And when the sky is split apart. 9 and the mountains are blown away, 10 And when the apostles are gathered at their appointed time 11 to what day shall they be deferred? 12 For the Day of Distinction [between the true and the false]! 13 And what will explain to you what is the Day of sorting out? 14 Woe that day unto those who cry it lies! 15 Did We not destroy many a nation of the earlier times? 16 We will now cause the later ones to follow them: 17 This is how We deal with the guilty. 18 Woe on that Day to those who belied it! 19 Did We not create you from contemptible water? 20 and place it in a secure place 21 For a known calculated term. 22 And We determined [it], and excellent [are We] to determine. 23 Woe unto the repudiators on that day! 24 Made We not the earth to be a housing 25 The living and the dead, 26 And placed therein high mountains and given you to drink sweet water therein? 27 Woe on that day to the rejecters. 28 Depart to that which you belied! 29 Proceed to a shadow [of smoke] having three columns 30 (Which yet is) no relief nor shelter from the flame. 31 The fire will shoot out sparks as big as huge towers 32 like giant fiery ropes! 33 Ah woe, that Day, to the Rejecters of Truth! 34 This is a Day whereon they shall not be able to speak. 35 And they will not be permitted to put forth any excuse. 36 Woe on that day unto the beliers! 37 That will be a Day of Decision! We have brought you and the men of old together! 38 If now ye have any wit, outwit Me. 39 Woe on that Day to those who reject the truth! 40

When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
