50 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Backbiter (Al-Hummazah) before Q (Qaaf)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
I swear by the emissary winds, sent one after another (for men's benefit), 1 Which then blow violently in tempestuous Gusts, 2 Then by oath of those that lift and carry. 3 Then separate them one from another, 4 and then cast (Allah's) remembrance (in people's hearts), 5 To clear or to warn. 6 surely that which you are promised is about to fall! 7 So when the stars are obliterated 8 Heavens will rent asunder. 9 And when the mountains are blown away, 10 And when the time comes for raising the little girls (buried alive) -- 11 For what Day was it postponed? 12 one will be told, "To the Day of Distinction". 13 And what will explain to you what is the Day of sorting out? 14 Ah woe, that Day, to the Rejecters of Truth! 15 Destroyed We not the former folk, 16 So shall We make later generations to follow them. 17 In this wise We do with the culprits. 18 Woe unto the repudiators on that day! 19 Did We not create you from contemptible water? 20 that We laid within a sure lodging 21 Till an appointed term, 22 So We proportion it-- how well are We at proportioning (things). 23 Ah woe, that Day! to the Rejecters of Truth! 24 Did We not make the earth a receptacle, 25 for both the living and the dead? 26 Have We not placed high mountains upon it and given you fresh water to drink? 27 Woe, that Day, to the deniers. 28 (It will be said to the disbelievers): "Depart you to that which you used to deny! 29 "Depart ye to a Shadow (of smoke ascending) in three columns, 30 that will offer no [cooling] shade and will be of no avail against the flame 31 The fire will shoot out sparks as big as huge towers 32 like giant fiery ropes! 33 Woe on that Day unto those who give the lie to the truth 34 On that Day they will be speechless, 35 Nor given leave to make excuses. 36 Woe unto the repudiators on that day! 37 This is the Day of Decision; We have gathered you and all the earlier men. 38 If you now have any conspiracy, carry it out on Me. 39 Woe unto the repudiators on that day! 40
