The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ Of what do they ask one another? 1 (It is) of the awful tidings, 2 Regarding which they hold different views. 3 No indeed; soon will they come to know; 4 Yes, indeed, before long they will learn all about it. 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 and raised the mountains like supporting poles? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 and We made your sleep a rest, 9 And made the night a cover. 10 and made the day to seek livelihood, 11 We raised over you several secure (skies), 12 And We have set therein lamps glowing. 13 And do We not send down from the clouds water in abundance, 14 that We may bring forth thereby grain and plants, 15 And gardens of thick foliage. 16 Verily the Day of Decision is a time appointed. 17 The day the trumpet blast is sounded you will come in hordes; 18 And the heaven shall be opened so that it shall be all openings, 19 And the mountains shall be moved away from their places and they will be as if they were a mirage. 20 Surely the Hell is an ambush, 21 The rebels' abode, 22 In which they will remain for ages [unending]. 23 and where they will taste neither coolness nor any drink 24 Except hot boiling water and hot pus discharged from the people of hell. 25 as a fitting recompense for their deeds. 26 For that they used not to fear any account (for their deeds), 27 And rejected Our signs as lies. 28 and everything We have numbered in a Book. 29 "So taste [the penalty], and never will We increase you except in torment." 30
