The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Of what do they ask one another? 1 About the great news - 2 Concerning which they are in disagreement. 3 Surely yes, they will soon come to know! 4 Nay, again, but they will come to know! 5 Have We not spread the earth like a bed, 6 and raised the mountains like supporting poles? 7 And We have created you in pairs (male and female, tall and short, good and bad, etc.). 8 And have appointed your sleep for repose, 9 And made the night as clothing 10 and We appointed day for a livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong (heavens), 12 And We made a shining lamp, 13 And do We not send down from the clouds water in abundance, 14 That We may bring forth thereby grain and vegetation 15 and gardens dense with follage. 16 Surely the Day of Decision is an appointed time, 17 On that day the trumpet will be sounded and you will come (to Us) in huge groups. 18 And the heaven is opened and will become gateways 19 and the mountains will be set in motion and become a mirage. 20 Surely the Hell is an ambush, 21 a home for the transgressors, 22 They will remain in it for ages. 23 They will not taste therein [any] coolness or drink 24 Save scalding water and corruption. 25 a meet requital [for their sins]! 26 For indeed they did not look forward to any reckoning, 27 They called Our revelations false with strong denial. 28 and everything We have numbered in a Book. 29 (They will be told), "Suffer, We shall only increase the torment for you". 30
