The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ Of what do they question one another? 1 Concerning the Great News, 2 About which they are in disagreement. 3 No! They are going to know. 4 They will indeed come to know soon. 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 and the mountains [its] pegs? 7 And it is We who created you in pairs. 8 made sleep for you to rest, 9 made the night as a covering, 10 And made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And We made above you seven strong ones, 12 and placed therein a hot, shining lamp, 13 And then sent down hard rain from the water bearing clouds. 14 Thereby to produce grain and plant, 15 and gardens dense with foliage. 16 Verily the Day of Sorting out is a thing appointed, 17 the Day that the Horn is blown, and you shall come in crowds 18 The heavens will be opened wide and turn into so many doors, 19 And the hills are set in motion and become as a mirage. 20 Surely hell lies in wait, 21 for the insolent a resort, 22 therein to tarry for ages, 23 tasting neither coolness nor any drink 24 save boiling water and a stinking fluid -- 25 Requital corresponding. 26 Indeed, they were not expecting an account 27 And rejected Our signs as lies. 28 and everything We have numbered in a Book. 29 So taste you (the results of your evil actions); no increase shall We give you, except in torment. 30
