The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ Of what do they question one another? 1 About the great tidings! 2 About which they are in disagreement. 3 Nay, they will come to know! 4 Surely, they will soon find out the truth! 5 Have We not spread the earth like a bed, 6 and raised the mountains like supporting poles? 7 and created you in pairs (as men and women), 8 and We have made your sleep [a symbol of] death 9 And made the night as clothing 10 and made the day for earning a livelihood. 11 And We have builded over you seven strong heavens. 12 and We appointed a blazing lamp 13 and sent down abundant water from the clouds 14 so that We may bring forth thereby grain and a variety of plants, 15 and luxuriant gardens. 16 Verily the Day of Sorting out is a thing appointed, 17 The Day that the Trumpet shall be sounded, and ye shall come forth in crowds; 18 And the heaven shall be opened so that it shall be all openings, 19 The mountains put in motion turning into a mirage. 20 Surely the Hell is an ambush, 21 It will be a place of return 22 They will tarry therein for ages. 23 and where they will taste neither coolness nor any drink 24 Except boiling water and benumbing cold: 25 An appropriate recompense. 26 for they never expected to be called to account, 27 And denied Our verses with [emphatic] denial. 28 And We have kept recorded everything in a Book, accounted for. 29 So taste you (the results of your evil actions); no increase shall We give you, except in torment. 30
