The News (Al-Naba')
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ ABOUT WHAT do they [most often] ask one another? 1 Of the mighty tiding 2 About which they differ? 3 No indeed; they shall soon know! 4 Again, indeed, they shall know! 5 Have We not made the earth as a place to rest 6 and the mountains [its] pegs? 7 And it is We who created you in pairs. 8 and We appointed your sleep for a rest; 9 and made the night a covering, 10 And We made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 We raised over you several secure (skies), 12 and placed therein a hot, shining lamp, 13 And then sent down hard rain from the water bearing clouds. 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetables, 15 and gardens dense with foliage. 16 Surely the Day of Judgement has an appointed time; 17 On that Day when the trumpet shall be sounded, you shall come in droves, 18 The heavens will be opened wide and turn into so many doors, 19 and when the mountains are made to vanish as if they had been a mirage. 20 Indeed, Gehenna (Hell) has become an ambush, 21 a home for the transgressors, 22 there, they shall live for ages, 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink. 24 except boiling water and pus 25 The reward to each is according to what he is. 26 Indeed, they did not hope for a Reckoning, 27 and they cried loud lies to Our signs; 28 And everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 Therefore taste it now – We shall not increase anything for you except the punishment. 30
